Stone Devices
Milan · 2026

WHEN: 2026
WHERE: Milan
SIZE: Approx. 10–35 cm
MATERIAL: Natural stone of site-specific origin, with a metal or ceramic intervention
Stone Devices are natural stones altered through a single, controlled intervention.
Each element is identified through a geographic and sequential code that indicates its origin and position within the series. Stones are collected from specific locations and catalogued accordingly, for example:
LIG-01 (Liguria), ETN-02 (Etna), DOL-03 (Dolomites), SAR-01 (Sardinia), TOS-02 (Tuscany), PO-01 (Po River).
Each piece is modified by a precise action—cut, insertion, or binding—that introduces a condition without redefining the object. The stone remains materially dominant.
The intervention creates a point of tension between natural formation and human action. Rather than transforming the stone, it marks it, establishing a new state that is minimal yet irreversible.
The coding system functions as an index, linking each object to its geographical origin while maintaining its autonomy within the series.
