From March 28 to April 12, 2026, Forte Marghera hosts “The Unfolded Series – Stone,” the stone art exhibition by artist and entrepreneur Palmalisa Zantedeschi, curated by BE at home – Design Consulting.
Site-Specific Sculptural Edition – Forte Marghera
At the conclusion of the exhibition journey of The Unfolded Series – Stone, the final room of the former French powder magazine at Forte Marghera presents Habitare – Site-Specific Sculptural Edition, an olfactory work positioned at the threshold between sculpture, design, and sensory experience.
Originally developed through a collaboration between Elena Pelosi and the brand 1981 Lab, Habitare was conceived as an object capable of transforming the everyday act of scenting a living space into a contemplative ritual. For this occasion, a unique edition has been created specifically for this historically layered site.
At the heart of the work is a sculpture conceived for this installation, whose form emerges from the architecture and material presence of Forte Marghera. Essential volumes and textured surfaces echo the geometries of the nineteenth-century fortress—its defensive structures, powder magazines, and the silent dialogue between built architecture and the lagoon landscape.
Handcrafted as a unique piece, the sculpture appears as a small contemporary architecture, a form that seems to rise from the material itself. The traces of the human gesture and the controlled irregularities of the surface become part of its expressive language, resonating with the sculptural research presented throughout the exhibition.
While the exhibition explores the latent vitality of stone, Habitare introduces another dimension: the invisible. The fragrance diffused into the space becomes a sensory landscape, subtly altering the perception of the environment and extending the experience beyond the visible form.
Through this encounter between sculpture and atmosphere, between material presence and immaterial perception, Habitare emerges as an object of collectible design—where design transcends function and becomes presence, narrative, and spatial experience.
The presentation of this site-specific edition within The Unfolded Series – Stone stems from a dialogue with the artist Palmalisa Zantedeschi, bringing together her research on stone and a complementary olfactory dimension that expands the way space can be perceived and inhabited.
