Harper's Bazaar - The Infinite Rebirth of Serpenti
Serpenti is Bvlgari is Serpenti is Bvlgari is Serpenti is Bvlgari is Serpenti … this magical formula with an enveloping, seductive sound has been dreamed up by Harper’s Bazaar to pay tribute to the year just begun under the Chinese zodiac sign of the serpent. The mythical animal, one of the most depicted and revered symbols since ancient times, has been Bvlgari’s most eclectic icon since the 1940s—from jewelry, accessories, and unmistakable watches to its most precious creations, a perfect synthesis of art and the highest level of craftsmanship.
This contrast between technology and material comes to life in the large, multicolored slab used as the background for these photos. Created by artist Elena Pelosi at the Fornace Curti in Milan, one of the oldest kilns in the world, whose walls have witnessed historically significant collaborations from Renaissance masters to modern street artists, this “craft marble” has a veined texture achieved by blending clays of different consistencies and colors. Malachite green, alabaster ochre, porphyry red, and a delicate desert-rose sand color become expressions of craftsmanship, echoing the artistry of Bvlgari’s goldsmith masters.
