BVLGARI the Snake anniversary frames

At Milan’s Fornace Curti, one of the world’s oldest kilns, artist Elena Pelosi has created her interpretation of Bvlgari’s iconic Serpenti through “artisanal marble” – a work that combines tradition with innovation. This project, developed in collaboration with Harper’s Bazaar, represents a dialogue between Italian craftsmanship and contemporary luxury. A sustainable design born from reclaimed clay, each piece tells a unique story through its marbled patterns in winter forest greens and warm earth tones where every swirl and blend creates unrepeatable compositions reminiscent of natural stone formations.

Each set showcases the beauty of imperfection and conscious craftsmanship, where recycled materials transform into design. The marbling effect emerges from mixing different clay bodies, making each piece one-of-a-kind.

The Art of Artisanal Marble

Elena Pelosi’s creative process transforms waste materials into refined art pieces. By combining clays of different consistencies and colors, she has developed a technique that produces multicolored slabs with streaked veining, creating an effect that mirrors the natural beauty of marble.

Infinity as Inspiration

Bvlgari’s “Serpenti Infinito” concept finds new expression in Pelosi’s work. Like the Ouroboros, the mythological serpent biting its own tail to form an endless circle, her artisanal marble tells a story of continuous transformation. The material’s veins intertwine and merge, creating unique patterns that seem to flow across the surface.

“Artisanal Intelligence”

Pelosi’s work represents what we might call “Artisanal Intelligence,” in contrast to artificial intelligence. Rather than algorithms or codes, it employs water, earth, and fire – the primary elements of ceramic art that transform into contemporary works under the artist’s guidance.
