Plissé is the new sculptural piece designed by @elenapelosi for @il_nodo_onlus: a contemporary reinterpretation of the Spanish ruff, blending historical elegance with sustainable innovation, looks like a Removable Collar Handmade

Crafted by young Cambodian students guided by master artisans, this necklace uses leftover cords from @paolalenti, originally developed for outdoor design—now transformed into a wearable symbol of empowerment.

The piece pays homage to centuries of craftsmanship while celebrating circular design and cultural resilience. Each fold and curve echoes the pleated collars once worn with pride and authority—here softened, reinterpreted, and reclaimed by new hands and new stories.

Through IL NODO’s Art Workshop, students learn traditional techniques and experiment with contemporary forms, supported by international designers. The project empowers youth, preserves Khmer heritage, and transforms discarded materials into instruments of change.
