Stratigrafica Collection

Stratigrafica is a furniture collection designed by Elena Pelosi with Teamwork Italy that tells the geological story of the Earth. Inspired by soil core samples, it includes 1930s-inspired dressing tables, consoles and mirrors with integrated shelving, built on a semicircular structure that amber mirrors complete in a trompe-l’oeil.

“I wanted to create pieces that weren’t just functional, but that carried a deeper narrative, a connection to the history of the Earth itself,” explains Elena Pelosi. “Each element of the Stratigrafica collection represents a fragment of geological time crystallized in the form of furniture.”

The pieces are made of cocciopesto, an ancient building material of terracotta fragments, air lime and pozzolana, reinterpreted as contemporary furniture. Pigmented with natural oxides and dried without high-energy firing, it changes colour with temperature and humidity, so each element is unique even within a series. Three palettes, from terracotta to lime white and neutral beige, are produced in limited editions of 20 pieces each.

With the furniture, Elena Pelosi created a series of ceramic vessels for Made in Fornace® in recycled materials rich in aggregates. Placed on the mirrors, they look like endless core samples sinking into the surface.
