A stable material, made to change

Delayed Matter introduces a condition of change within a material that is inherently stable.

Ceramic, traditionally considered permanent and inert, is treated here as a surface capable of transformation. Through specific processes, the material is induced to alter its appearance over time.

The change is not natural. It is constructed.

Cracks, deposits and surface variations emerge progressively, suggesting ageing without being the result of long-term exposure. Time is not accumulated; it is simulated and accelerated.

The work challenges the assumption of ceramic as a fixed state. Stability is maintained structurally, while instability is introduced visually and materially. The object remains intact, yet appears in transition.

Delayed Matter belongs to Time Conditions, a group of works that investigates how time can be embedded, altered or simulated within matter: natural transformation, accelerated processes and constructed ageing. The series does not document time. It constructs it.
